The Chilliwack River flows out of the valley and into the Fraser River. Going back upstream, as far as you can go in a canoe – this is the meaning behind the name of our city. This is the meaning of Chilliwack, or Ts’elxwéyeqw. Holding tightly to our Indigenous roots, we pay homage to the Stó:lō people and Halq’eméylem language that connect us to the history and to the land.
